Ringing the Changes..

Dear Mr Kalb,
Thank you for your website; it is both refreshing and interesting. I thought I would submit a very short newspaper article to you. I have copied it word for word. As I write from the UK I know it is not relevant to whatever is happening in the US, and you may agree or disagree with it, so here goes:

The Times - Wednesday June 22nd, 05.

Skirts Banned.
Broadstone Middle School in Poole has become the first in Britain to ban girls from wearing skirts. Female pupils will have to wear the same long grey trousers as the boys. Angry parents said they believed the ruling was introduced because some girls had been wearing their skirts very short.

So that is the article. You may have your own ideas about it. The reason given by the school governors was that the wearing of trousers would help the girls to maintain 'modesty.' Well I am not against modesty. I feel what they could have done was simply enforce a strict rule that skirts should be worn well below the knee. However, I am suspicious of their motives. I think this is just another attack on femininity. These people have covert methods and I feel they are simply trying to force egalitarianism on the boys and girls. Hope you found it a little bit interesting.

Yours truly,
Mrs S Owen. UK.
